Team North Arkansas
Nebraska and Arkansas faced one another Sunday night at St. Louis Stadium. The game ended in a 5-7 defeat for NE. AR moved on to play the following morning.
It wasn’t apparent that NE would lose at the beginning of the game, considering they had already put three runs on the board in the first. It especially wasn’t apparent when NE prevented AR from scoring any runs their first two at-bats.
NE extended their lead to four in the top of the third with an RBI from (who). However, their lead soon came to an end whenever AR came to bat in the third.
After a hit from Christopher Lindemeyer and a bunt from Dillon Drewry, James Douglas came up to the plate and drove in the first run for his team. Masen Walker, Isaac House and Ky Bickford each followed with RBIs of their own. An additional run was added to the board whenever Cody Lance hit a triple. NE had given up a four-run lead before they could get themselves out of the inning.
NE came back to the place with their first deficit of the game, but they were unable to score any runs in the fourth.
AR extended their lead to two before the game would head into the fifth.
In the fifth inning, Carter Kelley drove in NE’s fifth run of the game. AR played solid defense to assure that was the last run NE would get.
Although AR allowed a run in the fifth, they came right back in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own – once again extending their lead to two.
NE was looking for runs in the sixth, but AR prevented it with a quick three up and three down. AR took a 5-7 win over Nebraska.
The Players of the Game were Ky Bickford for AR and Andrew Brosius for NE.
