Korea and Mexico had played like the two best teams in the Cal Ripken World Series. Korea who thoroughly dismantled Australia in their first game 17-0 looked like a well oiled machine of efficiency. Mexico on the other hand put a beat down on Canada winning a very impressive 13-0 with the team blasting balls out the park all game for several home runs. They were a combined 30-0 against their competition and looked like world beaters in their first outings. Lucky for fans they were set for a collision course to play each other in pool play last night.
The game was nothing like the previous two with pitching and defensive plays dominating for most of the night. Mexico was the first to score and they would be the only team to score. As Alberto Barriga scores off a stolen base in the first inning. Mexico while holding Korea to without a run would get a homer in the third off of Marlon Rodriguez Blazer hit. Korea Struggled to bat against Mexico all night as their offensive woes continued. Alberto Barriga would score another run in the fifth inning. Mexico would win the game 3-0
Korea just couldn’t get anything going offensively, even though they held a very offensively potent team to just 3 runs with their pitcher Kun Hyoung Park getting 7 strikeouts.
What this came down to was just tone quality team making a few more plays than another quality team
Mexico’s Marlon Rodriguez finished with a Homer run and an RBI. Mexico’s Alberto Barriga finished with two runs and a couple of hits.
The Republic of Korea’s Kun Hyoung Park finished with 7 strikeouts
